Tomatoes and Peppers Are Really Coming

Well I am grateful my tomatoes and peppers are finally starting to turn colors from green to red, yellow, orange, or whatever color they should be! I love the taste of the heirloom tomatoes as well as just a nice slicer. Truly is a different world.

The peppers are quite nice and different this year. I chose to just plant all sweet peppers (I thought). What I mean is, I planted a small pepper plant from seeds and the package said “carnival blend” and I thought oh how cute. I have quite a few of them in the high tunnel and they are purple, red, yellow, white, orange and quite bushy. I plucked one off and bit into it and was like…wait a minute! I had to look at the package and saw that it was a “mild-hot” little pepper. I mean little too, they are only about 2” long, but pack a punch. So, if anyone likes a bit of spice in their recipes, I will be putting them in the CSA shares the next time which will be August 6th . Hard to believe August is right around the corner. I do have a nice little Doe hill Pepper which is small and the color is yellow. They are very crunchy and sweet and they should be all ready by next drop as well. I only had three as of today, but I expect a lot more very soon.

I also noticed quite a few of the small little cherry tomatoes are turning red and yellow iwthin the high tunnel and quite a few Aunt Molly’s Ground cherry’s and grow in place tomatoes are coming up all over outside in the small field. Nice treat, but wow, they sure grow everywhere I will say that. They are nice to pop in your mouth for treats for sure. Eye Candy!
